Works today with OXS files, the open cross stitch format that most design programs can save (for example WinStitch, MacStitch and KG-Chart). Importing PDF patterns is coming soon. Patterns from our own shop always open free.

What the Stitch Tracker does

  • Shows one color at a time. Tap a thread color and every other color fades, so you see exactly where to stitch next.
  • Ticks off finished stitches. Turn on Mark stitches and tap or drag your finger across the squares you have stitched. They fill in with the thread color, just like on your fabric.
  • Counts for you. See how many stitches are left in each color and how much of the whole pattern is done.
  • Big and easy to read. Zoom in as far as you like, with large symbols, a bold line every 10 stitches and numbered rows, just like a printed chart.
  • Remembers your place. Progress saves to your account, so you can stitch with your iPad on Monday and check your computer on Tuesday.
  • Keeps your screen on while you stitch (on devices that allow it), so you do not have to keep waking it up.

What does it cost?

  • Patterns from our shop: free. Every pattern you buy or download from us opens in the Stitch Tracker at no extra cost.
  • Stitch Club members: free, for everything. Members can also add patterns from other shops.
  • Patterns from other shops: $10, one time. Unlock it once and add the patterns you bought from other designers, yours for life with no subscription. It works today with OXS files; importing PDF patterns is coming soon.

How to follow a cross stitch pattern on an iPad

  1. Open this page in Safari on your iPad and log in to your account. Tip: tap the Share button, then Add to Home Screen, and the Stitch Tracker gets its own icon.
  2. Choose your pattern under Your patterns.
  3. Tap the color you want to stitch first in the color list. Most stitchers start near the center (the small red arrows on the edges point to it).
  4. Stitch a few squares on your fabric, turn on Mark stitches and drag your finger across the same squares on the screen.
  5. Made a mistake? Tap Undo, or drag across a finished square again to clear it.

Questions

Do I need to download an app?

No. The Stitch Tracker works in the web browser you already have: Safari on an iPad or iPhone, Chrome on Android tablets, and any browser on a computer.

Is it free?

For our patterns, yes: every pattern you buy or download from our shop opens in the Stitch Tracker at no extra cost, and anyone can try the demo pattern without an account. Adding patterns from other shops is a one-time $10 unlock, and free for Stitch Club members.

Can I use it with patterns from other shops?

Yes, with the one-time $10 unlock (free for Stitch Club members). Today it reads OXS files, the open cross stitch format that most design programs can save, for example WinStitch, MacStitch and KG-Chart. Importing PDF patterns is coming soon. Your patterns stay private to your account, and please only add patterns you have bought or have the right to use.

Is this the same as Pattern Keeper?

No. Pattern Keeper is a separate app made by another company, and we are not connected to it. The Stitch Tracker is our own tool: free for our patterns, it runs in your browser, so it also works on iPad.

What about half stitches and backstitch?

The Stitch Tracker counts full cross stitches, which make up most of every pattern. Backstitch, French knots and fractional stitches are shown in your PDF chart.
